What is The A Unlimited Motorcycle Licence?
The A Unlimited Licence is the highest category of motorcycle licence in the UK.
Once passed, you can ride:
- Any motorcycle of any engine size or power output
- Motorcycles with or without a sidecar
- Carry a passenger
- Ride on motorways
Most riders gain their Full A Licence through the DAS (Direct Access Scheme), using larger training motorcycles.
What Do I Need Before Starting?
You can take the A Unlimited Licence if:
- You are aged 24 or over via Direct Access (DAS)
- Or aged 21+ if progressing from an A2 Licence held for at least 2 years
- You hold a valid UK provisional driving licence
- You have completed a CBT course
- You have passed your motorcycle theory test

What to Bring
Please bring:
- Your Full UK Photocard Car licence
or a Provisional UK Photocard Car licence with valid Category A (provisional motorcycle entitlement if you intend to ride over a 50cc moped)
or a Full EU licence accompanied by a UK counterpart licence (D58/2) showing provisional motorcycle entitlement (Category A) - Your Motorcycle Theory Test Certificate
- Suitable Clothing and sturdy Footwear

What Happens During the Course?
Our Full A Unlimited Licence training is tailored to suit your experience level and ability.
Training usually includes:
- Motorcycle control and slow-speed manoeuvres
- Road positioning and hazard awareness
- Junctions, roundabouts and dual carriageways
- Higher-speed riding techniques
- Test route preparation
- Mod 1 and Mod 2 test training
Our experienced instructors will guide you through every stage of the process in a calm and supportive environment.
Course Sections
MOD 1 Motorcycle Test
The Module 1 test takes place off-road at a DVSA test centre and includes:
- Slow control exercises
- Figure of eight
- U-turn
- Emergency stop
- Hazard avoidance
MOD 2 Motorcycle Test
The Module 2 test is an on-road riding assessment that checks your ability to ride safely in real traffic conditions.
This includes:
- Normal road riding
- Independent riding
- Town and rural roads
- Safe decision making
- Observation and awareness
